What are some good/great/awesome free security software out there? I was thinking of going with Microsoft's Security Esscentials (after all, it's their system, so they should know it best and be most efficient with them right?)

I'd like to add Avira's Antivir for antivirus (Free Version), I've been using it for years with no problems at with it. It actually cause a virus that I got from work that their antivirus program isn't catching.

+1 to Malwarebytes and Comodo, I use them both as well.

Microsoft Security Essential is like a car with no AC and with manual windows.

It is basic and sufficient for most people and does the job, in most cases.

If u want to have control, get AVAST^^^ mentioned above.

Same goes for Windows firewall, turn it off and go for Comodo FW ^^^, that is the real center block of your security : )
