How do I clean a tube TV screen???

I have a Sony KD34XBR960 and the manual says to use a cloth dampened with
water... I don't think this would do that great a job, and there are a lot
of minerals in the water where I live... Would half spring water and half
alcohol hurt it???

What about Windex?

Windex, 409 in clear bottle, or distilled water.

I spray directly on screen VERY LIGHTLY you don't want it running down.

old undershirt or paper towells, ROLL the cloth as you slowly wipe
sideways, the idea here is to lift any abrasive particles with the
cleaning liquid. This is especially important with plastic screens on
rear-projection TV's, but you can also scratch glass if you get a piece
of silica on your rag.

don't re-use any section of the rag. don't worry about a streak free
surface on the first pass, just concentrate on lifting the dirt.
Because of electrostatic attraction you will find amazing amounts of
particulates have been attracted to your screen.

after the surface is clean, use a new rag and very light mist.

You could use what old men do to clean their glasses - a dollar bill.
For HDTV, maybe a $100. bill would be better.

Windex is fine, but spray it on the cloth so that none runs down into the
space between the tube and the bezel. I use a micro-fiber cloth first to
remove the largest amount of dust, then a generic window cleaner like
Windex.

I use Windex sprayed onto an old cotton T-shirt. Less abrasive than a paper
towel.

Bought my cleaner with the micro-cloth in a kit at Ultimate Electronics,
took grandkids fingerprints right off, no problema. Paid $20, well worth
it, own a 65" RPTV.
