Anyone know when new model Sonys may come out and what
types/sizes they are. I read some good news about a supposed
Qualia [?] model that's supposed to be great. I assume new
gen. chips will be coming too for lcd etc.

Try each week using google for, sony show "2005". Last year 2004
about this month ZDNet.com talked about going to the sony show.
They also showed last years models and the new replacement models.
I learned I had to wait till July 04 to buy the new KD-34XBR960. It
was sure worth the wait.

I did find this, should be more set information in the next few weeks
or march.

Sony also has a site with News listed about various upcoming sets.

Many thanx Purple! Boy, Fall is a long time to wait...I may
be starting to weaken if that's the case. Oh well! I'm
crossing my fingers that it isn't later. :)

That's correct, late summer to early Fall. With Sony in 2003 the sets
started with KV. In 2004 it was KD and in 2005 im sure it will change
again. Many years ago sets would go for 4 years before a replacement.
With the competition and set improvements especially with HD it seems
to be annually.

If you keep looking around you may find information on the sets in
March but they may not be available for purchase till July and
September.

And you will probably have to wait a bit longer than you think you will. A
TV dealer I know tells me that Sony is infamous in the industry for being
late with its new models and slow to get them shipped out and into the
stores. That was certainly true with the new models that came out last
fall.

Of course, the newest Sony models have only been in the stores since last
October or November. Our set, a KDF-60SX955, is one of those new models and
we recently did a firmware upgrade on it, which Sony sent us (via a request
from Sears service) at the beginning of this month. So, we are now able to
upgrade beyond the latest model year, at least in terms of firmware, before
the next models come out.
