How do i join chat with someone on facebook if they cant see me?

how do i chat with someone on facebook i i dont see them online and they dont see me online

If you don't see them online you can't, check Facebook help pages.

both people have to be online. if both are online and you still can't chat, make sure you are marked online in chat under the options tab in the chat window.
