Dos serial com. with newer computer

Hello,
I'm trying to run a serial port program under dos 6.22. This program has worked for over 25 years without problems until I was forced to use a circa 2010 computer, Serial communications stop if I hit a key on keyboard.
Please help. I tried changing bios setting. Bios is ami 08.00.15

It should still work under Windows XP or previous version. Try right clicking on that application then click on Properties, then click on Compatibility tab then on Compatibility Mode, check Run this program in compatibility mode for: (choose the windows version that you may work for that program, try another when it does not).
