Hi there. I have what would seem to be a simple question, but I can't find
an answer for it. I appologize if this is the incorrect group, but it seems
to be the most informed on this general area.

I have a 32" Panasonic HDTV LCD TV. This unit has the standard RCA,
Component inputs, as well as an HDMI input. I have a Toshiba laptop that is
a few years old, and it has the standard VGA output, as well as an RCA out
for TV out.

Now, the LCD is basically an expanded monitor, and I would like to use it as
such. If we connect the Laptop to the LCD via the TV out, it only displays
resolutions that are way too small, and it enables scrolling, etc and the
picture quality is terrible. I would like to use the TV as a monitor...
but it has no native VGA in. Is there any way that I can get the Laptop
properly connected to the LCD with this configuration of inputs/outputs? I
understand that if the laptop had dvi, I could buy a simple cable to connect
dvi -> hdmi, but what about VGA -> HDMI?

Thanks!

I bought a vga to hd component cable from altex electronics (altex.com for
those not in texas), while for some reason I couldn't get it to work with my
sony direct view crt hd tv from my dell laptop, I understand it's suppose to
work.

Perhaps someone knows the secret.

Good luck

I believe you have to go to your display/properties to enable the TV
output.
