I have been considering the directivo HD dvr...

Couple of questions:

Where can I get the hd dish itself, circuit city sells the box but I
need to have the dish and lnb's, anyone have a quality site to order
from ?

Also, can I self install the dish or does it need to be professionally
aligned ? (ala voom)

How is the OTA tuner ? Can it grab and keep a signal... My current
model is the motorola hdt601 (I think thats the number) and it really
pulls them in and keeps them.

I currently am a Directv subscriber so I figured its the easiest way to
go, I liked Vooms hd lineup but the added expense (vavavoom) is a
putoff.... If they just sold the hd stuff I'd be more interested....

Thanks!

Any DTV retailer should be able to get the appropiate hardware for you. With
proper tools and a bit of patience you should be capable of installing it
yourself. Since you are already a Direct TV subscriber why don't you give
them a call about a deal for upgrading to the HD equiptment including the
recievers. With a good antenna and optimum signal strength the HD tuner
should be capable of sustaining reasonable reception. Marginal antenna and
signals level will result with poor or no reception of the OTA HD Signals.

Check with your retailer. I could have bought the dish for about $99(at Best
Buy) or I could have it installed fot $49 and they gave me the dish free. I
took the latter. It does require a little knowledge to get it aligned
properly.
