Computer monitors are already capable of resolutions equal to or greater
than that of HDTVs. Basically, using an HDTV as a computer monitor would be
nothing special.

None I am already running at 1280x1024 on my 21 inch monitor so why
would I connect my computer to my TV. My monitor can also be run at
1600x1200, but I don't do that very often.

You have always been able to do that with Windows.

Picture in Picture maybe?

Why not turn it around, use your computer screen as a TV monitor. Size
doesn't matter that much anymore:

eDisplays>
DVI out on the receiver/tuner required...
