I recently bought a Toshiba 65" CRT rear projection TV and am trying to take
care of the investment the best I can. I have a fear in the back of my head
regarding burn-in.

With a properly calibrated TV ( I used Avia), should something like a 2 hour
network movie, occasional 2.35:1 movie or an every weekend sporting event
with the network logo be of great concern? I'm not the type who watches
MSNBC 14 hours a day, every day, but I do want to enjoy my TV on some of the
things listed above. I'd hate to have my TV drive my viewing habits!

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks.

You worry too much...turn the contrast down to a reasonable level and
don't leave the TV on 24/7/365, and you'll be fine.

Do not watch any programme material that has the scroll or one that has
bight logos displayed for over 1/2 hour or 45 min max. Change to another
channel that does not have the scroll or logo for about 15 min the go back
to the original again. Do not use the tele text or closed caption mode
unless you set has the newer system that displays the c/c in various areas
of the screen rather than at one location constantly. Do not play video
games on the set. As posted previously, set the contrast and brightness at
reasonable levels. Buy a LCD or DLP Set that will not produce the same burn
in as crt or plasma.

I don't know if you've played any games since the 80's or not. But,
modern games change scenery more than a movie does.
