I am considering purchasing an HDTV monitor (Samsung DLP most likely)
and am interested in the opinion of people here on whether to wait for
integrated tuners or not. I have read that Samsung is going to be
including an ATSC HD tuner in their newer Tantus line which is due for
release soon. My biggest concern is, when signals are finally
available in HD and distributed by my local cable provider (Cox
Communications), will I be able to use this tuner to decode those
signals? I am guessing that HD service will be more of a premium
package which leads me to believe that the tuner will have to come
from Cox to work on their system, much the same as with the DTV
service they offer in my area now. Is the opinion that we will all be
using a provider's tuner for sometime to tune HD signals, or rather
that an in-set tuner like all SD TVs could be used? Has anyone with
Cox service asked about this? Their web site isn't fully descriptive
on what equipment can be used. Thanks for the info.
