How to De-Clutter your MacBook Pro Hard Drive

One of the problems MacBook users perennially face is their hard drive space getting filled to the brim. This not only doesn’t allow you to save further files, but also slows down the PC. This however, is not always due to the number of files on your MacBook. There are a variety of software which runs in the background on a MacBook Pro. This software consume up quite a bit of space for their actions and not all of them are necessary for users.

One of these functions is called the ‘File Vault’. The Vile Fault encrypts all the files present on the MacBook and adds an additional layer of security to all of them. However, the kind of security it adds is meant for highly important and not family photos or your guitar tabs. And if you were to turn off this File Vault function, you can get back quite a bit of space on your MacBook Pro hard drive.
Here’s how to do this:

Step 1
Click on the Apple icon on the top left corner of the screen.

Step 6
Enter your ‘Administrator Password’. If you have followed the steps correctly FileVault should now be turned off and you should have gotten back a sizeable amount of space on your PC.

Keep in mind that this process can take up to quite a few hours to run the entire decryption method, so this task is to be preferably done at night before going to sleep.
