Do you face problems with your files and folders remaining scattered all over your desktop? Are you unable to locate the right file you need at a moment’s notice from all the clutter? Well, you aren’t the only one, and Apple realized this as well. So, the new MacOS Mojave comes equipped with a new function, known as Stacks to solve this problem.

Using Stacks can help organize all the files on your desktop into small piles, and the feature is also highly customizable. Here are instructions as to how you can use this feature.
Step 1
Tap with two fingers anywhere on the home screen and open the desktop menu bar. Or you can also open the menu bar at the top of the screen and click on the ‘view’ option.

Step 2
Find the ‘Use Stacks’ option and click on it to activate it. This will create stacks according to the type of files. For example, all images on your desktop will be piled into an image stack, all documents into a document stack, etc.

Step 3
Click on any of the stacks to expand them and you will notice that an arrow is being shown pointed at the stack you have opened. This helps you keep track of which stack you have opened or are operating in. You can also open all the stacks at once by option clicking on any of the stacks.

Step 4
In its default mode Stacks are created according to the type of files, but this option is customizable. In either of the menus where you can find the Stacks option, right below it will be another option ‘Group Stacks By’. Hover over it and another side menu will open with options to create stacks according to date created, date modified, tags, etc. which you can choose instead for your benefit.
