How to Use Touch ID on Your MacBook Pro

The Touch ID is a fantastic addition to the new MacBook Pro. It allows you to log into your Mac without having to type in passwords. It detects your fingerprint to give you device access.
Setting up and using the Touch ID in your MacBook Pro is not a difficult task. You need only follow these simple steps.

1. Open System Preferences
Click on the Apple logo and select System Preferences. The System Preference dialog box will appear.

2. Select Touch ID
Click on the Touch ID option. The Touch ID dialog box will open.

3. Click on Add a Fingerprint
Click on the large ‘+’ above the Add a 'Fingerprint tag. A pop-up will appear, asking you to enter the password for the Mac account you are logged in with.

4. Fill Password
Type in the 'Password' for the account you are logged in with. Select the OK button. The fingerprint ID will be set up for this account, so make sure you are logged in with the account you want to set the Touch ID for.

5. Put Finger on Touch ID
Choose which finger you want to use for your ID and place it on the Touch ID panel on the extreme right of the Touch Bar. The on-screen instructions will ask you to repeat the touch until it is satisfied it has the full print. On completion, you will get a prompt saying Touch ID is ready.
Click the Done button. The Touch ID dialog box will appear again.

6. Check Box the Preferences.
Check the box against your preferences as to what you would like to use Touch ID for. The options to use it for include Unlocking your Mac, Apple Play, iTunes & App Store. Your Touch ID will be configured according to the preferences you set here.

You are all set to use Touch ID on your MacBook Pro. Simply put your finger to the Touch ID panel instead of your password next time you log in.
