Stardew Valley - Winter Activities

Most players in Stardew Valley dislike the winter as it is the only season in which you cannot plant any real crops therefore it really cuts into their income as farmers. What most farmers do not realize is that winter is the best time of the year because of all the activities you can do and all the progress that you can make towards making your farm the best one yet. Winter may not allow you to grow crops but it offers so many chances to both earn money as well as progress in the game, by which I mean there is a lot of opportunities to complete bundles and make friends. Here are all the things that you can do during the winter and why it would be wise to do them.
Walkthrough:
The first thing that you should know is that winter is the best time to upgrade all the tools that you have. Since there is no farming in winter you can easily upgrade all your tools because you don’t need your watering can or your hoe during winter.

The hoe is still a little important but we will get to that later. You should stock up on supplies and upgrade in the winter because it saves time.
While we are on the topic of stocking up you should make sure that you have enough hay and silos for your animals if you have any. A full silo will feed 8 animals for a month and you need the hay because the animals will not go out in the winter.

Thus you need the hay to keep the food so that they keep producing. You should also invest in processors such as Mayo machines, Kegs and Cheese Presses will help you make a daily amount that you can use to prepare for spring. Keep in mind though that you would need to stock up on foraged fruit from fall if you want to keep using the kegs and preserving Jars in winter.

Do not forget that you can forage in the winter as well. You can earn a good amount from the 4 items that winter has to offer. You should also keep an eye out for worms in the winter as they are much more numerous and will offer you foraging items as well as artifacts and books so you can easily complete the museum.

You can also gather up supplies such as wood because you will need it to make more buildings. You can spend your time making friends as winter is a good time for spending your time with other people. If all else fails you should remember that there are 2 places that are unaffected by winter.
The first is the mines which do not change no matter the season and are available to you throughout the year. You can mine as well as a fight during winter. The second place is the desert where you can forage for Cactus fruit and Coconuts or you can go to the Skull Cavern and stock up on iridium ore for sprinklers for the upcoming spring.
