Sometimes you will face issues with your Roku remote. These issues will differ depending on the type of remote you have which come different for Roku streaming player or Roku TV. Please consult the guidelines for determining type of remote you have if you are unsure which type you have. The type of Roku remotes available are:

■ Standard Infrared Remote.
Enhanced Point – Anywhere Remote Control
This type of remote control uses your home wireless network to send signals and does not necessarily require you to point at your Roku to work. In the event of a malfunction, you may try the following steps:
1. Restart Roku remote control and Roku player
■ Switch off Roku player by removing ac cable for about 5 seconds, proceed to reconnect the ac cable after this.
■ For the remote, access the batteries by removing the cover on the remote then take out the batteries.
■ Allow the Roku device to get to the home screen and then put back the remote batteries.
■ Give the remote 20 seconds while it attempts to reconnect with your Roku device.
2. Repair your remote control
■ Take out the batteries from the remote
■ Switch off Roku player by removing ac cable for about 5 seconds, proceed to reconnect the AC cable after this.
■ Insert batteries in to the remote when the Roku player displays the home screen.
■ Proceed to long press the pairing button on the remote for 5 seconds or until the pairing led flashes.
■ If the light does not flash, try again and in the event that it doesn't please consider changing the batteries.
■ The remote will establish connection with the Roku player after 20 seconds.
■ A remote pairing prompt will show on your TV when the remote has successfully paired.
3. Change the remote batteries
■ Open the battery cover and take out the batteries.
■ Switch off Roku player by removing the ac cable for about 5 seconds, proceed to reconnect the ac cable after this.
■ Allow the Roku player to get to the home screen and proceed to insert new remote batteries.
■ Give the remote 20 seconds while it attempts to reconnect with your Roku player.
■ A remote pairing prompt will appear on your TV when the remote has successfully paired.
4. Replace the remote
■ When you have tried the above steps and they fail to solve the issue, you must consider replacing your remote. You may buy a new remote from the Roku store.
Fixing the Standard Infrared Remote
Unlike Enhanced point anywhere Remote the standard Infrared remote must be pointed directly at your Roku player in order to work. Placing your Roku in places where the signal can be blocked will cause the remote not to work. Another common cause for remote malfunction is when the batteries have run out of power. To resolve some of the issues please try the following:
1. Ensure that the front panel of your Roku is directly visible from where you sit
■ Hold out your remote pointing at your Roku, make sure nothing blocks the device and the remote control. If there are any obstacles please remove them or move the Roku device somewhere it has no interference. The remote should start working properly.
2. Make sure batteries are set properly
■ Remove the battery cover on the remote and check if the batteries are set properly. Take out the batteries and reinsert them properly.

4. Use your smartphone camera
