One huge advantage Android has over a certain other phone OS is the ability to customize it in just about every way you care to think of. If you’re not happy with the way a certain function operates, there will be an app for that, or a setting for that. If you’re a recent convert to Android, here is how to change default apps on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Changing the default aps is a matter of taste but something well worth experimenting with. Even if you go back to using the defaults, it’s always nice to have options. When you install a new app that replaces an existing one, you should also be prompted to use it as default. If you skipped that part, these steps will help you reconfigure your device.

Change default apps in Android Marshmallow
1. Navigate to Settings and then Apps.
2. Select the gear icon in the top right.
3. Select Default apps and tap an app.
4. If you have multiple options, they will appear on screen. Tap the one you want to select to make it the default.
5. Repeat for the other apps as you need.

Change defaults not included in Default apps
The Android default apps screen only contains the main core apps your device uses such as phone, SMS and so on. If you have others that you want to change, follow these steps.

1. Navigate to Settings and then Apps.
2. Select the app you want to replace and then tap ‘Open by default’.
3. Select Clear defaults and the next time you perform whatever activity that app used to control you will be prompted to select a default app.
