How to Use the Move to iOS App with iOS 9

Move to iOS is an app developed by Apple for Android users who want to switch to an iPhone running iOS 9. Move to iOS is installed on Android phones and allows the Android users to migrate their data such as messages, photos, bookmarks, etc. to an iOS 9 easily over a wireless network The app is available on the Google Play Store.

Since Move to iOS uses a wireless network for migration, both your Apple and Android devices must be able to connect to Wi-Fi.

Once you have successfully downloaded and installed the Move to iOS app on your Android smartphone, here’s how it can be used to move your data to your new iPhone:

    ■Power on your new iPhone running iOS 9.
    ■On the Welcome screen swipe your finger to the left.
    ■On the language selection window, locate and tap to select your preferred language.
    ■From the Select Your Country or Region window, locate and tap your country of residence.
    ■From the Choose a Wi-Fi Network window, tap to select the wireless network that you want to use, and provide its password when asked for.
    Note: Make sure that your Android device uses the same wireless network as your iPhone.
    ■On the Location Services window, tap your preferred option to enable or disable the location services as needed.
    ■On the Touch ID window, choose your preferred option as required.
    ■On the Create a Passcode window, type a new passcode and when prompted, retype to confirm.
    Note: Alternatively you can also tap the Passcode Options option to get other passcode options that iOS 9 has to offer, or to skip creating a passcode altogether.
    ■On the Apps & Data window, tap the Move Data from Android option.
    ■From the Move from Android window, tap Continue.
    ■Wait until the communication code appears on the next screen.
    ■On your Android device, launch the Move to iOS app.
    ■On the Move to iOS window, tap Continue.
    ■Tap Agree from the bottom-right corner of the Terms and Conditions window.
    ■On the Find Your Code window, tap Next from the top-right corner.
    ■In the available field on the Enter Code window, type in the 10-digit communication code that is displayed on your iOS device.
    ■Wait until your Android device connects to your iPhone and both the devices prepare themselves for data transfer.
    ■Once done, ensure that the iOS device displays the name of your Android phone.
    ■When the Transfer Data window appears on your Android phone, check or uncheck the type of data that you wish to transfer to your new iOS device.
    ■Tap Next from the top-right corner to continue.
    ■Wait until your data is transferred from your Android phone to your iOS device and both the devices display the Transfer Complete message. (This may take some time depending on the size of data that is being transferred.)
    ■After the transfer is complete, tap Done on your Android phone. Alternatively you can tap Recycle your Android Phone if you no longer wish to use the phone and recycle it.
    ■On your iPhone, tap Continue Setting Up iPhone and follow the on-screen instructions from there to complete the iPhone setup process.
    ■Once done, tap Get Started on the Welcome to iPhone window to start using your iPhone normally.

Note: If you have an old iPhone that you have upgraded to iOS 9, you can get to the iPhone setup phase from Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Content and Settings.
