Upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1

Microsoft introduced Windows 8.1 with some fixes and a more user-friendly interface.

After the release of Windows 8.1, Microsoft offered the free upgrade from Windows 8 to the new OS. In order to upgrade your Windows 8 PC to Windows 8.1 for free, you can initialize the process by going to Microsoft Store from within the operating system itself. When you upgrade, your files remain intact, and in some cases your personal settings on some applications are left untouched as well.

You can upgrade your Windows 8 PC to Windows 8.1 online, and the method (as simplified as possible) is given below:

■Log on to your Window 8 PC with an administrator account.
■Make sure that your PC is connected to the Internet.
■From the Start screen, locate and click the Store tile.
