When you open a web page, is it cluttered with toolbars at the top? Is your usual home page now something different? Toolbars and plugins are normally attached to programs that you have downloaded from the Internet. Not only are these toolbars annoying, the plugins can cause severe damage to your computer. They are havens for viruses and spyware. It is possible to remove these toolbars from a web browser. Follow the steps below to do so.
1. Open your web browser. You need to find the browser’s add-on page. This process may be a little different depending upon the browser that you are using.
2. For Google Chrome users, you click the Hamburger menu at the upper right hand corner of your webpage. From the drop-down menu that appears, select Tools and then click Extensions. This will display all of the toolbars and plugins that installed on your computer.
3. In Internet Explorer, users will click the gear icon also in the upper right hand corner of the page. From the drop-down menu, select “Manage add-ons “ to display your plugins and toolbars.
4. Mozilla Firefox users click the same Hamburger menu as Chrome users. Click the Add-ons icon and then click Extensions.
5. In Safari, users can go to the Safari menu and choose Safari Extensions from the dropdown menu.
6. When you have all of your extensions up on your screen, you can go through and see if an add-on matches a toolbar. If so, you can delete it.
Be careful, you don’t want to delete extensions that you need. You can always disable an add-on first before deleting it later.
