If you have an older SD card that is full and would like to transfer some, or all, of its data to a larger SD card, not to worry. All of the files can be transferred to any number of other storage devices, including another SD card. Follow the steps below to move files from one card to another.

Step 1: You will need to extract the files from the old SD card. Put the old SD card into your computer’s card reader. If your computer does not have an SD card reader, you can put it into your phone or digital camera and connect that to your computer to serve as a card reader.

Step 2: Click the Start menu and select Computer. You should find your SD card under “Devices with Removable Storage.” Click it to open the contents of the SD card.

Step 3: Click the Start menu and open your libraries. You can select your document libraries. You want to create a new folder. Click the New Folder icon just below the address bar. Name the folder.

Step 4: Select all of the items from your old SD card. Right click on them and select Cut. This will remove all of the files from the old SD card. It may take a few minutes depending on how many files are on the disk.

Step 5: You can then Paste all of the files into the New Folder.

Step 6: Take the old SD card out of your computer (or device). Put in the new SD card. Click Open Folder to open it.

Step 7:
Select all of the items from the folder that you created and then Paste those files to the new SD card. Again, the process may a few moments.

That’s it! All of the files from your old SD card have been successfully transferred to the new card.
