There are so many different ways to listen to music nowadays, especially on a Windows PC. If you are looking to get the most out of your audio experience on your computer, use the followings tips and tricks to do so.

Step 1
If you want to have all of your music actually on your computer (as in local files), there’s still not more user-friendly way to do it than with iTunes. Unfortunately, iTunes is an Apple program first and foremost, which means it doesn’t work as well on Windows as on Mac. Especially if you have a large library, iTunes can slow to a crawl on Windows machines.

To correct this, just start dumping the non-essential features: delete the smart playlists, turn off Genius, and uncheck the sorting columns you don’t use.

Step 2
However, if you are more interested in an accessibility model, consider the streaming options available to you. Spotify is the most famous of these, but both the web player and the actual program (if you install it to your PC) can have some serious lag issues when it comes to searching for music. Head to your web browser and give Rdio a try instead. The catalog is of similar size and the interface is a lot cleaner.

Step 3
If you are going to use Spotify, though, definitely download it to your computer instead of using the web player. Once the program is downloaded, click “File,” select “Import Playlists,” and choose “iTunes.” Doing this will allow you to get the best of both worlds: local files and a massive streaming library. This is perfect if you have a few favorite playlists in iTunes, or if there are songs or albums you love that aren’t on Spotify.

Recap
Listening to music on your computer can help make work feel like less of a chore, or can allow you to get a party going anywhere. Use the steps above to better optimize your listening experience on your Windows machine.
