Reduce the Screen Door Effect on Oculus Rift

Oculus Rift is a virtual reality headset that can be used to play video games. Players use the headset to step into the virtual world of their game. The headset sometimes suffers from a screen door effect, which causes the picture to be unclear. Here is how you can reduce that screen door effect on the headset.

Step 1: Visit your local office supplies store and pick up a lamination kit. You’ll need a sheet of laminate big enough to cover the LCD screen inside of the headset.

Step 2: Take the front of the headset off. There is a small gap between the two pieces that make up part of the headset. Use something that can fit into that gap and wedge the two pieces apart. The one side will fold down to reveal the LCD screen inside.

Step 3: Apply the laminate to the screen. Cut the laminate piece so that it fits on the screen. You can use tape to hold it in place. Make sure that the piece of laminate is flush with the screen. There should be no areas where the laminate is raised off of the screen.

Step 4: Put the front back on the Oculus Rift. It should snap right back into place. That’s it!

The laminate on the LCD screen inside the Oculus Rift will greatly reduce the screen door effect that is common when using this virtual reality headset. Put the headset on and test it out. You should be able to see much more clearly.
