Creating Limited Accounts (Guest Users) in Windows 8

Windows Guest accounts have limited privileges, and are not allowed to perform any administrative tasks. They're great for children or users who will only be using your computer temporarily.

When you create a new user account in Windows operating system by going to the ‘Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > User Accounts’, you can make the user either the Administrator or the Standard User of the computer. This method does not allow you to create Guest Users for the OS.

In order to create a Guest User in your Windows PC, you must go to the Computer Management snap-in. The process of creating a new Guest User in a Windows computer is given below:

Note: Guest Users can perform almost all the tasks that the Standard Users can with the exception that Guest Users cannot access the local resources of the computer from the remote computers via local area network (LAN).

■Log on to your Windows PC with an administrative account. (Windows 8 in this demonstration.)
■On the Start screen locate and click Desktop.
