How to Use System Restore in Windows

Sometimes, things just go wrong in Windows. Maybe you have a bit of a software glitch and everything is just crashing, and you know things didn’t used to be this way. In these instances a System Restore may be the best option, to simply roll back the clock and put the system back to where it was all working. Luckily, this is really easy to do, so if you want to use System Restore in Windows just follow these easy steps.

Important Note: Before a system restore, it is always a good practice to make a back-up of all of your important files. The System Restore Wizard will prompt you to do this, but it is easier to do so before you get that far. Even if it is just a hand full of Docs, it takes two minutes to throw them into the cloud.

1. Press the Windows Key (or for Windows 8 push your mouse up to the top right hand corner of the screen.

3. The System Restore Wizard will appear. Proceed.

4. The Wizard will ask you when to restore the system to. There will always be something there as points will be automatically created, and you can always reset to the start.

5. Accept and let the Wizard do the magic (it can take a little while, so go grab a coffee). If everything works the Wizard will tell you. Then simply log back into your machine and check to make sure everything is as it should be.
