Create a Recovery Disk for Lenovo Windows 8 Laptop

If you ever find yourself in a situation where your Lenovo laptop’s operating system is compromised or damaged, you can probably recover it just by restoring the PC to factory settings. It is wise to create a recovery disk to do this, so you can restore your laptop from a USB drive even if you can’t get Windows to start. Follow these steps to create your recovery disk.

Step 1: Make sure to use an empty USB drive that is big enough to store the recovery partition of your drive. Windows should tell you how much space you need as you move through the process. If there are any files on your drive, they will be wiped to make way for the recovery, so back them up now.

Step 2: Using the Windows search function, search for “recovery drive.” One of your search results should be “Create a recovery drive.” Select it. The recovery drive tool will open on your laptop.

Step 3: Check the box next to “Copy the recovery partition from the PC to the recovery drive,” and click “Next.” At this point, your system should tell you how large of a USB drive you need to get the job done. Insert the drive into a USB port on your Lenovo laptop.

Step 4: When your USB drive shows up on screen, select it, and click “Next” to confirm that it is, in fact, the drive you want to use for recovery purposes. Click “Create” to finish the process, and start the process of moving your recovery partition over to your flash drive.

Recap

Whether you need to ditch an evasive virus or simply want to delete the recovery partition of your hard drive to save space, the above process will allow you to move all necessary Windows 8 recovery information over to a flash drive. In the future, if something goes wrong with your Windows 8 Lenovo laptop, you can restore the computer to factory settings by using the recovery partition now stored on your flash drive!
