Step 1
Earbuds are made in several different ways, so the solution to your problem might be different depending on which types of earbuds you are using. For in-ear headphones that actually have a rubberized cap inserted directly into your ear canal, the easiest way to solve the “falling out” problem is to wrap the cord around your ear.
Turn the earbud over so that the cord is facing upward, then insert the rubberized cap into your ear and hook the wire over the front of your ear. The cord should now run down the entire back of your ear, past your earlobe, down your neck, and over your shoulder.
Step 2
If you have earbuds that simply rest on the outside of your ear instead of being inserted directly into the canal, you will have to take a different approach. For many years, Apple has been the prime purveyor of this kind of earbud style. These headphones are the most notorious for not staying in ears.
To solve the issue, you’ll have to turn them into over-ear earbuds but not in the same way described above. Instead, grab two twist-ties, wrap one end around the base of your Apple earbuds (enough that it feels secure), and hook the other end over your ear.
Recap
Neither of these solutions is particularly stylish. However, if you’re on a budget and don’t want to have to go buy new headphones that actually stay in your ears, these simple solutions can address the issue quickly and effectively.
