Hard Reset Your iPhone

This Tutorial addresses:
  • iPhone

If iOS becomes unresponsive, you may need to perform a hard reset on your iPhone.

Hard resetting your iPhone does not require you to go to the ‘Settings’ interface of your device. It requires the Home and Power buttons on your phone to be long pressed simultaneously.

Unlike the factory restore process, when you hard reset your iPhone, all the installed apps remain intact, and only the system settings are reverted back to their defaults.

Here is how you can hard reset your iPhone:

  1. Long press the Sleep/Wake button to switch on your iPhone.
  2. Swipe your finger to the right on the screen (screen saying slide to unlock) to unlock iPhone device.
  3. On the Home screen, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously until the iPhone begins to restart.
Note: It takes up to 10 to 15 seconds to restart the phone.
  4. Once the silver Apple logo appears on the screen, rest assured that the hard reset process has been completed successfully.
  5. Wait till the operating system boots properly and the icons get loaded on the Home screen.
  6. Once everything is in place and your iPhone is up and running, you can continue using your phone normally.
