how to connect digital outdoor hdtv antenna to samsung un50mu6300 tv

I am trying to connect a Lava OMNIPRO HD-8008 antenna to Samsung um50mu6300 tv and the tv says that it doesn't recognize the antenna. Do I need some sort of set box or to remove the surge protector that came with the antenna.

The TV should not know what type antenna is installed. A coax to the antenna input is all that should be required. Verify that you have the DC power adapter for the antenna installed in the correct direction. Verify that the tuner is configured for off-air channels vs cable.
