So when my computer goes idle I can hear what I believe to be the hard drive working. Normally if it's idle I should just hear nothing but my fans. I have a feeling it could possibly be a 3rd party using my resources to mine. When I click my mouse the noises will stop and it goes back to just being able to hear my fans. If I wait a few minutes I hear the hard drives again then as soon as I click silence. Am I just being paranoid or what? How can I check and any suggestions? I also ran a scan with Malwarebytes and got rid of a few files but still it persists.

Windows has number of services, that work in background and can cause disk usage:
  • Search Indexer service;
    Windows Defragmenter;
    Windows Defender;
    Windows Updates.

You can monitor Disk usage with Task Manager and Resource Monitor.
Mining processes would utilize your GPU. You can monitor GPU usage with Task Manager and MSI Afterburner.
