Hello,

so i have this old hp 655 g1 laptop which had a a4-4300m processor. Everything was running cool and silent. I decided to upgrade to a a10-5750m processor that i bought used on aliexpress.

1. 1. After i installed it i immediately noticed that the cpu fan spins at full rpm all the time but the thermal margin is only 40(overdrive) so i think it should'nt spin at full
2. After using prime95 2.66 the thermal margin on amd overdrive goes even to about -10,-15 and starts throttling.
3. Even after a mild load like a few chrome tabs and programs the heat pipe over the processor is really hot to the touch

I put the old processor again and everything was working fine again. Put the new one again and the same problem- so everything is installed correctly. New bios, drivers installed, clean windows, dust free . This laptop was sold with this processor in configuration- same tdp of a10 as a4 so the fan should be sufficient. Anyone know what the problem could be?

Solution
Tdp is not everything... It's a 4 core chip with more graphics engine vs a 2 core with less graphics power. I'm not surprised it's overheating.... Compare a 95w 9900k to any other 95 watt cpu other than a 9700k and see how much heat is produced

I understand that it should run hotter, but i think it should'nt overheat especially when this laptop went to sales with this processor in configuration.
