I have an Infinity "Entra Sub subwoofer" to connect to my PC for some bass. I already have two speaker which is plugged into my Line Out port and my "Infinity Entra Sub" plugged into my C/Sub port with a 2 male RCA to 1 3.5mm audio adapter.

I'd tried a few things. I went to Device Manager and update my driver by choosing the High Definition Audio Driver and then restarted the PC.

When I right-click on the sound volume icon, clicked on sound. Go to the Playback tab and scrolled down to my speakers. I clicked on Properties, advanced, and clicked on Test, It went through those ringing noise in a cycle. So the sound ringed into my left and right speaker, then the third ring was kind of a faded ringing, and lastly, then a soft boom came from my subwoofer.

My problem is when I play music to test it, I don't hear a bass. So how come when I run through the test, the subwoofer works, but just playing anything else whether is video/music, it doesn't work?

Can anybody tell me how I can resolve this issue? Thanks.

Current operating system at the time of writing this 12/29/2018: Windows 10 Pro, BUILD 1803

You need something to amp that sound

Most subs run the speakers as the lone out port is not powered. Basically

You got speakers grate they do not need an amp per say but the sub dose.

Ether get a 3.1 set up from the shop, or run the signal to a amplifier/processer

Okay, yeah I have an amplifier for the subwoofer and speakers. I think we basically kind of have a 5.1 surround sound cause we had lots of speakers to connect to the amplifier. But right now I currently have 2 speakers for left and right, which is connected to my PC and it works, but now my subwoofer is connected to the PC and it is not working. Do you suggest I plug in my subwoofer to the amplifier and the amplifier to my PC?

And the subwoofer and speakers was actually used for the big old fat TV back in the day. FYI. But now I just ditched the subwoofer from the setup hopefully it works, but nope it did not. Now that you mentioned that it needs the amplifier for the PC to detect the subwoofer and in order for the 2.1 to show up in the sound setting. Am I right?

ish and kind of lets walk this back

you have 2 good speakers as in NOT desktop we are talking floor standing ?
you have a subwoofer << from unknown >> so where and what type is it ?

if the sub is from a old 5.1 then IT needs to run the other speakers as IT is the amp

usually 5.1 use the sub as a mixer amp type thing.... now if it was a 5.1 hooked to say a dvd player >?
then the dvd "player" may also have been the Amp If all the speaker router via it.

so YES the Out put of the pc CAN drive a speaker it cant do it well as it is not a powered amp.

so hook the pc AS the source >>>> PC to DVD player>>>PC to input on SUbwoofer

one of these is the golden ticket

So, if you must know, the speakers that I currently have because is just the right size for my desk setup at the moment https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KC7WGQQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 this is currently plugged into my line out port of my motherboard and the subwoofer is plugged into my C/Sub with the adapter.

Here is an image of my subwoofer that I just uploaded front and back

I was thinking of another solution to what you said earlier about using the amplifier, since this is an old amplifier by any means, I don't think this one even has a 3.5mm port. I might as well pick this guy up https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ULRFQ1A/ref=psdc_10980761_t2_B0070Z87YO This amp seems to be a more reasonable solution in order for my PC to detect a surround sound settings in the playback tab.

run the pc to the amp use a rca split headphone to left right

hook to left right in on that nice looking amp >> run speakers and sub off the amp.... if needed strip the rca head off and hook the wire for the speaker into it...

So I am still a bit confuse as to what you are trying to say. I am still not getting any bass. See image below. I thought of grabbing my two male RCA to two male RCA to connect from subwoofer and use my adapter to connect from subwoofer to PC to see if that works. The two on the left is my adapter, and the two on the right is the original cable.

And the one that is wrapped around is the power cord for electricity just so you don't get confuse. FYI, still no bass :(

the input from pc goes to left and right audio input's I suppose you could set the audio out on pc and hook in to the sub input but i dont think it will work. the amp should take a left and right audio sorce and mix it to 5.1 with sub center and all the jazz.

So I got the input from the PC that is located in the left connectors and the output to the subwoofer on the right connectors.

And here are a list of channels/input my amp has.

hummm I dont think you need the speaker channel hooked on the sub. that would be to pair off the speakers from the sub itself....

what are the 2 ports on the sub ? should only need one... I have a feeling the 2 out on the amp used to be combined into ONE input to the sub.

so left right rca from the amp to one rca for the subwoofer I think the labeling on the sub is trowing you off. it sould only take in one input

Would you happen to know if it could be a function that I am not using? Think of it as selecting on your TV between HDMI 1, HDMI 2, Video Game, Music, Bluetooth, those different inputs as functions for my amp.

I'm coming to a conclusion that since this is a very old 20 year old sound system from the time I was born, it just might not be compatible with the hardware and software today. I might as well get a current sound system that you can just plug and play. Just plug in the electricity for power, turn it out, and connect the speakers and subwoofer to the PC. Basically just hook and play. Things has become so much easier these days ya know.
