Unable to get channel 3 which is needed to connect DirecTV . How do I get it back. Husband had done auto channel scan and channel 3 disappeared. We do get 3.1, 3
2, etc but not just 3. Help

Solution
Uh, did we just buy a new TV?

In the olden days, the carrier gave us a set-top box and that box outputs to channel 3/4 and that's where we tuned the TV to talk to this set-top box.

These days, set-top boxes don't talk to channel 3/4 but instead would have a connector, HDMI, COMPONENT, COMPOSITE VIDEO, where u hook up to a digital TV having one of these ports.

So with this new TV, channel 3/4 is no longer used but instead you tell TV to "connect" SELECT INPUT really where the set-top box is connected to, i.e. HDMI1.

If you can select analog before you run the scan then do that. The channel 3 output of your box is analog.
Since your TV has a digital tuner you will get a much much better picture if, as suggested above, you connect the box to an HDMI input. Call DTV if your box doesn't have an HDMI output. You can't get an HD picture with channel 3.
