I have this Asus notebook laptop model X541NA, OS Windows 10 home 64 bit. I am locked out. I can't remember the Windows password. I have a self booting prog that works on XP to Win 10. This prog will bypass the Windows password so the password can be reset or removed.
My problem is in the Bios on the Asus laptop. The Bios only sees the hard drive and not the internal optical drive, nor can I set the optical drive as # 1 in the boot order so the laptop will boot off the optical drive instead of the hard drive.

By the way i just got in the U.S.P.S today a brand spanking new optical drive from eBay for this laptop and the Asus laptop still doesn't see the optical drive. I fig that the old optical drive was bad. That's why I got a new optical drive. Also this new optical drive works in my Dell Inspiron 15-3541 that I am typing this post on right now.

PS: Now that my digital camera is charged up I took some pictures of the bios screens. And I made some progress. The bios is seeing the cd/dvd rom drive and is showing up in the boot order. But I still can't make the laptop boot off the cd/dvd drive instead of the HDD.

Well I found out some news about this Asus X541NA laptop. 1st off it is cheap
Chinese junk. Here is the list of faults.

1. the top cover has to come off to get at the hard drive.

2. no way to change the battery or disconnect it for a cold re-boot

3. No way to change or upgrade the memory, built onto the motherboard.

4. keyboard can't be changed without buying a new top cover. Also the keyboard
has a very cheap, thin and short ribbon cable. It tears very, very easily.

5. The bigest screw up is the bios. Veary strange layout and no "launch CSM"

6. I have to pay for warrantee shipping and I got stick with a string of stupid
rules that are as long as my arm if I want to ship it back to the factory under
warrantee for repairs.

Over all I got ripped off even though I got it for free. I got
it from a pawn shop. Now I know why I got it free. And I was all set to give it to
my nephew for Christmas. the %^&$@#$%^&* didn't last 2 weeks.

A PS: I can salvage the 500gb SATA hard drive and the SATA CD/DVD read/write
optical drive. The optical drive I got brand new on eBay.
