So I have this ASUS ROG GL552VW gaming laptop. It has windows 10, i7 6700, 16 ram, GTX 960 and 1 terabyte HD.
I had the WiFi card replaced because it was faulty at a repair shop. They wanted me to pay for a windows reset, but I thought I could do that by my self.
I took the laptop home, it starts ok, loads windows and I go to factory reset.
The formatting was completed. And now I am having issues with windows.

When I start the laptop, the loading screen pops up followed by the user login and windows and than sometimes the screen just freezes with a complete black background and no icons, however I can move the mouse cursor.

If this happens I force shut down the laptop from the power button and start it up again. Windows would load and I would see the desktop, however, windows freezes after 10-15 seconds of displaying the desktop and in this instance the mouse cursor would freeze too. it will stay frozen if I leave it. The longest I have waited was 30 minutes.

So I have tried to get into safe mode by pressing f8 and shift+f8 when I first start the laptop and when I restart it in the 15 second windows after it first starts. The laptop freezes on the restart screen. I also tried restarting +shift and the laptop freezes on the restart screen. This never happened before.

Can any one help me solve this? Thanks in advance.

Update:
So I tried to do a hard restart by holding the power button for 60 seconds. And now the laptop is not responsive. I removed the battery and charger and put them back again, with no luck. Laptop has some flashing lights (light bulb) and noise that starts and stops? Did I cause some hardware damage?
I was instructed to do so by the ASUS agent whom I was chatting with for tech support.
Please help, I am freaking out.
