A few keys on my Acer Aspire V Nitro laptop have stopped working correctly. I took the laptop to the store and they could not help me, they uninstalled the keyboard driver and reinstalled it, the problem was the same when an external USB keyboard was connected and also on the on screen keyboard (windows + R and osd). The funny thing is that the keys do work correctly in the seach box next to the windows key but not in windows, google or any other program. Any suggestions as how to solve this?

Try starting up the laptop in "Safe Mode" and see if the problem still happens in there. If it doesn't, then you may well have something on it that is the cause (rather than hardware). A virus, malware, bad program, etc., that would need to be removed to resolve it. If, however, it still does it even in "Safe Mode" then you may well need to have the motherboard looked at/replaced.

How to enter "Safe Mode" when booting the computer.

In Windows 8 and 10...

As your computer restarts, press F8 (possibly a few times) to enter "Safe Mode"

a. Press the "F4" key to Enable "Safe Mode".
(The computer will then start in "Safe Mode" with a minimal set of drivers and services.)

b. Press the "F5" key to Enable "Safe Mode" with Networking.
( Once "Safe Mode" with Networking starts, Windows is in Safe Mode, with additional network and services for accessing the Internet and other computers on your network.)

c. Press the "F6" key to Enable "Safe Mode" with Command Prompt.
(In "Safe Mode" with "Command Prompt" starts Windows in Safe Mode, with a Command Prompt window instead of the Windows interface. This option is mostly only used by IT professionals.)

Now sign in to the computer with your account name and password. (If you have one set.) When you are finished troubleshooting, you can exit "Safe Mode" restarting your computer.

In Windows 7/Vista/XP...

1. Immediately after turning on the computer, or restarting it (usually after you hear your computer beep), tap the F8 key, repeatedly, in 1 second intervals.

2. The computer will then display hardware information and run a memory test.

3. Next the "Advanced Boot Options" menu will appear.

4. In the "Advanced Boot Options" menu use the arrow keys to select "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode with Networking" and press ENTER.

So you ran both Antivirus and Antimalware programs to check the laptop to make sure there was nothing?

In the case of anything else, I would suggest starting by uninstalling anything you recently added to the laptop. Start with anything you installed right before the problem started. Or, you can go into "System Restore" and choose a restore point that is prior to the problem starting. Use that and see if the problem goes away. If so, then do not reinstall anything you installed after that point before.

Yes I did run antivirus and antimalware programs and nothing was there. I did not install any programs recently, the only thing that was installed was a Windows update. I tried 2 system restore points but windows did not succeed in restoring the laptop to these restore points. So my conclusion then can only be that it is a Windosw update that caused this.
