I have a dell precision M6800 and have recently bought dual Samsung cf39 monitors. The monitors have hdmi and serial hookups. I haven’t been able to get the monitors to display my laptop. I hooked up one monitor to hdmi and the other to the serial. I also tried to hookup just one and nothing. I do have a display port and I believe I can convert that to hdmi. I would purchase a docking station, but I am unsure what would be the best option. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Sharon

You may want to have someone local to you check on this, that system should work fine with dual monitors on it without a dock. If you are not getting a display you may need to go to display options and enable the screen. If it does not see either VGA or HDMI connections it may be a driver issue also, check Dell support site for video card drivers for your model.

A dock is nice, I would much rather use external monitors with a dock and a keyboard/mouse attached rather than off the laptop.

Well assuming your laptop is working here is a cheap HDMI hub that lets you plug it into your laptop or device's HDMI port and outputs it to 3 dislays. Though depending on your specs it might not be powerful enough to power all the monitors. It would work for videos and Internet and basic tasks but gaming depends on your laptop's graphics card. Here is the hub: https://www.amazon.co.uk/GANA-Switcher-Splitter-Supports-HD1080p/dp/B075R2DFJ1/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=electronics-accessories&ie=UTF8&qid=1546206776&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=HDMI+splitter&psc=1

Sorry for the long link and not sure what currency you use but i am sure you could find something like that for dirt cheap.

This is not what is needed, that just switches between sources, it will display the same thing on all of them, and one at a time. Not what most people use dual monitors for.
