I have a clean install of Windows 10 64bit and wanted to try a new virus security. Webroot gets a lot of praise because it's supposed to be very slim, and gets the job done, so I decided to give it a try. I installed the free trial and it brought my computer to a crawl immediately. Well, not a crawl, but windows and programs were taking noticeably longer to load. I have a very good PC; Intel I7, 32 GB RAM @ 3400mhz, 2080 TI, it was installed on a m.2 drive, and the only other virus security installed is Windows Defender, so I'm pretty confident my setup is not the problem. I uninstalled it and my computer went back to it's normal self. Weird thing is I tried webroot in the past, maybe a year or two ago and had a very similar issue that caused me to uninstall. I forgot about it till it happened again this time. Anyone else experienced this with Webroot? I've used Malwarebytes, Kaspersky, Bitdefender and Eset and none of them make my computer act this way.

windows defender is supposed to automatically disable its realtime protection when it detects a third party av.i have seen it fail to do this once or twice tho.if defender continues to run alongside another av it can slow down your pc considerably.

I don't recall if Windows Defender RTP was turned off, but I know when I went to my windows security hub, or whatever it is called, it did state that Webroot was taking care of everything. Guess I won't know for sure. I'm a bit worried to try install it a third time since I'm 2 for 2 on it slowing down my computer.

my curiosity would bug me until i did it.lol.that having been said that it is,after all, just a trial.if i was you i would look at some of the free avs out there.ive used avast for years.they bug you a little to buy,but that is to be expected.its never slowed down my pc either.i find it has less nagging popups if you only enable file shield, behaviour shield, and web shield in realtime protection.
