I have Cyrus 8 DAC ap and is rated at 6 ohms, also runs with Cyrus PSX-R2. What do I need to look for in ohms in regards to speakers?

Solution
It's rated at 88 watts into a 6 ohm speaker but can be used with speakers greater than 6 ohms safely. The power with an 8 ohm speaker would be 66 watts so if the speaker were 8 ohms you would want it to work well with that amount of power.
You would not want to use speakers below 6 ohms. It would probably make the amp go into protection, blow a fuse, or blow up.
The size of the room, how far you sit from the speakers, and the speaker efficiency all also affect what speakers are right for you. Of course you have to like the sound of them which is a matter of personal preference. Go to a shop and listen with your own music if you can. There is no online substitute for that.

Thanks for that . I did have an idea that was the case so thanks for confirming for me. Further, I do like loudness, is there any way I can improve on this keeping in mind I also have Cyrus pre amp

The higher the efficiency of the speaker the louder it will play so pay attention to that spec on the speakers.
You could also add a self powered subwoofer. That would fill in the lower bass and have it's own power amp. If you could find one with a high pass filter (not common) then it could be connected in between the pre and amp. That would remove bass from the main speakers allowing them to work better with less power. You could get a separate high pass filter to get the same improvement.
