Ah, OK. I thought you already owned it.

Well, according to that Toshiba reference, it kinda does not matter.
It would seem to be something encrypted, only playable on the TV. Proprietary from Toshiba.
Unless Toshiba published some decryption routine, it could be saved in ROT32 reverse Swahili for all we know.

Looking around online, I've not found anything that states what type of encryption or file type itis.

From TOshiba:
_TOSHIBA_MB130S_QUI_(LED+DLED_EU)_T2_C_S2_RC42151+RC21151_PVR_M7_BT.pdf]https://toshiba-tv.com/files/[GB]_TOSHIBA_MB130S_QUI_(LED+DLED_EU)_T2_C_S2_RC42151+RC21151_PVR_M7_BT.pdf

"Recorded programmes are saved into the connected
USB disk. If desired, you can store/copy recordings
onto a computer; however, these files will not be
available to be played on a computer. You can play
the recordings only via your TV."

So just try it.
Save something to a USB.
Plug it into your PC.
What file types does it show?

Thanks USAFRet

I can't 'just try it', I'm trying to evaluate this particular model before I purchase one.
Sadly your answer doesn't actually answer my question. i.e. When I record something, what file extension will I find on my drive ?

Thanks again USAFRet, I was only interested, if I were to use a large capacity HDD which is already well used, I figured it would be easier to copy onto a USB key if I knew what I was looking for.
