Solved! Connect old stereo thing to old tv

I recently moved to another apartment and found that there is a casette/radio player stereo thing with 2 decent looking speakers. https://imgur.com/8VfIEkf
Seeing as I have an old Samsung LE-32S81B (its around 10 years old but man is that thing durable), it basically has a 'decent' looking 720p display but imho the speakers are not that good.
I tried unplugging the speakers and just plugging it into audio out on the tv, but found that you need a stereo reciever or something like that. Can this thing be used for that? https://imgur.com/ZId6eL1
And will it be a problem that the tv gets the video/audio signal from a hdmi cable connected to a laptop?

It just has 2 inputs/outputs on the back, where you plug in the 2 speakers, so I'm not sure how I could plug it in the tv.

For the purpose of connections, old TV to me is analog. Your 720 sounds like it's already in the digital age, so that means, like the many posts here, is about matting Digital to Analog audio, and is not that hard, all u need is a rather inexpensive Digital (most likely the Toslink type) to RCA (like old phonographs) converter. Whatever you hook up to TV, the sound *should* come out of this digital out connector, pass through the converter, to fee your old stereo.

The second picture is the "receiver".
The TV has left and right stereo analog audio outputs. That can connect to an aux input on the back of the receiver. You should need a standard RCA stereo interconnect cable.
All the sources connected to the TV should work fine.
Check the TV manual on how to use this output. You may need to set it up in the TV menu. It's possible that this is a fixed output so you would have to control the volume with the receiver not the TV remote.

Lets pretend I didn't understand a lot of the things that you said. The cable you told me to get is a one with the 2 ends that looks the same as the speaker ends, while the other end is a 3.5mm jack? How do I set it up? I assumed I'd need to plug the 3.5mm to the reciever and the other 2 in the TV. But the problem is that the reciever does not have a 3.5mm input anywhere I looked. Just has the 2 ones for the speakers in the back. Am I screwed?
