Hi all,

I am considering purchasing a new laptop for my commute. It'll be for very simple usage (coding, YouTube). #1 priority is lightweight and portable. Although I'm sure any laptop nowadays can handle IDEs (I use Visual Studio), I am a sucker for sleek and compact laptop designs.

What is your budget?

Cheaper the better but I'm guessing lightweight = more money so maybe around CAD $1,500?

What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?

13" or 14"

What screen resolution do you want?

Standard is 1920x1080 or higher?

Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?

I have a desktop already for gaming. This laptop is solely for commuting, lightweight activities

What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)

YouTube, coding, Excel

Tech specs?

Standard 256GB / 512GB would be enough. Having SSD would be cool but I know that ups the price.

My desktop uses i5 so I'd rather stick with that. Don't know much about other processors.

What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?

No optical drives but a few USB-A, -C, 3.0 would be useful. SD/MicroSD slot is a bonus.

Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.

I've looked around and these seem to look good:

Dell xps 13
Huawei Matebook Pro (not sure about Huawei quality but reviews seem really good. And the almost-bezel-less display is a huge plus)
Asus VivoBook?
Asus ZenBook (although this is the worst looking of the bunch)

And a side note, I want a traditional laptop; nothing foldable or detachable.
