I have a hp laptop with movies on it that I want to watch on the tv. I connected the laptop to the tv via hdmi, then the tv to the sound bar via ARC hdmi. The video works well, but sound only comes out through the tv's speakers. Does anyone know how to get the sound through the sound bar. The laptop has only one hdmi port, so I can only plug it into the tv. I've read the user manual for both the tv and the sound bar, but I still couldn't get the sound through the bar. I have a vizio tv with a CT150 Sony sound bar.

Audio settings on TV - direct sound to HDMI (Receiver or Arc or whatever it is called by your TV).

Do you get sound from other external sources or the TV tuner/apps on the soundbar?
If you do then check that the HP had HDMI as the audio device.
If you don't then you may need to turn ARC on in the TV menu. You may also have to turn the TV speakers off and change the audio output type in that same menu.
