So i’ve recently ordered a Macbook Pro 13 inch (no touchbar) and paid 1600$ after tax. A full 400$ off.

I also ordered a hp - envy 360

https://m.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/hp-envy-15-6-touchscreen-2-in-1-laptop-silver-intel-core-i5-8250u-256gb-ssd-8gb-ram-win-10-eng/12554073?cmp=knc-s-71700000021589626&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6MHdBRCtARIsAEigMxFQrCpGMAQYTC0QFA6RdyS6mUtJcv-0e4JCjKzYHpCA1u9eTo5DeSsaAo0aEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

That one. About 1250$ after tax here.

I don’t video edit and I don’t game.

I’m returning one of them...

Is the mac a good enough deal to keep in place of the envy ? Based on I guess re-sale value ? Or for whatever other reason ?

All opinions welcome.

Thank you.

The hp envy overall has better specs and will last you many years to come. Apple has been using a keyboard with a known big issue with it for years and only have made small changes to it over the past 3 years but the issue is still there and it's really easy to break the keyboard through normal use.

This will also really affect the resale value of the device since it will be known as...

What are the specs of the macbook? What are you planning to do on the pc? Any reason you would like one over the other.

I would immediatly return the macbook since it still has the broken keyboard issue that effects every macbook where even a bit of dust inside the keyboard can break it.

This will also really affect the resale value of the device since it will be known as "that broken macbook" like the old 8800m macbooks that all had gpu and display problems thus heavily impacting their resale value. However those could be somewhat fixed. The new macbook requires you to literally rip the keyboard from the frontcase destroying the old keyboard and a really high chance of damaging the case of the laptop.

This is why I don't recommend people any macbook from 2014 till now but do recommend certain models that are known good ones from a while ago.
