Hi , i have a sony vaio laptop Model sve141d11u with i5 2450m processor, i want to upgrade to a i7-2720QM , both are board compatible but the i7 has 45 tdp and mine has 35 tdp, is there any problem with that, or i can upgrade?.

My recommends for a laptop would be to see what in that exact same model line was an optional upgrade. Look to see if that proc was one of them, on that exact motherboard and with that exact power supply/brick. If so, go for it. If not, I wouldn't do it personally. If you do find a listed manufacturer optioned upgrade, stick with that.

Otherwise, can you really afford to brick the laptop or is this for fun to see if you can do?
