hello.
i had a question about cpu clock and i wanted to know which of these cpus are better.

intel 8550u 1.8-4 gHz
intel 7700hq 2.8-3.8 gHz
i checked the cpu.userbenchmark.com and found that these 2 cpu s are almost equal in benchmark.

The biggest problem with the 8550u isn't the performance it has but the fact that a lot of manufactures put it in machines that can in no way cool it enough causing it to run at much lower speeds.

If put in an enviroment where it can boost as high as it wants the 8550u gets close to a 7700hq.

actually these 2 cpu s are for 2 different laptops and i want to buy one of them.
there is no money problem and the graphic cards are the same.
so i want to know that the first cpu ( i mean intel 8550u 1.8-4 gHz ) would get too hot while multiprocessing or no?
and while multiprocessing (such as watching video and internet surfing ) does this cpu need to boost for almost every time or it can handle that with 1.8 gHz clock?
thanks for answering.

Can you give the models of both laptops? It's hard to tell without knowing the ones these are in :p.
The cpu will boost whenever it feels like it's needed. Both will often sit at 800 mhz when nothing is really going on. The baseclock means that you should at least expect this frequency over all cores at 100% load (if provided adequate cooling). The boostclock means that it can go up to that speed when only using a single core.

Asus FX503VD Core i7 7700HQ 2.8GHz up to 3.8GHz 16GB 1TB 4GB GeForce GTX 1050
and the other is:
Asus FX570UD Core i7 8550U 1.8GHz up to 4.0GHz 12GB 2TB 4GB GeForce GTX 1050

The fx570 has worse cooling than the fx503. So I wouldn't risk it and just get the FX503.
