Unplug Shuts off

Howdy. I have a 2 year old Lenovo idea pad 110 touch screen. My stand fell over yesterday and my laptop went crashing down on the floor. About a three foot drop. And to top it off, my entire 42 oz water fell right on top. All over screen and keyboard. Water was running out of it for an hour.

I waited all day before trying to turn it on. And at first it said it couldn't connect to Windows, had to go into repair mode. Then it did some things and by golly it works!! Somerimes a image will be burnt into the screen for a split second. However when I unplug it it shuts off. Battery shows full. But it won't work unless it's plugged in. So just question is

1) What could have caused it? The water or fall?
2) Is it gonna hurt it further to leave it plugged in all the time?

I always did. The battery life is shit. It always has been.

Thanks for your time to read and answer this!!

Solution
Either, detailed cleaning of the whole thinkpad, to ensure that everyrhing doesnt have any shorts,
or take it to repair shop, let them do the cleaning.

This way lf cleaning Ive rescued 3 phones, one dropped into toilet, one into sea., just screen connectors were having corrosion a bit, and my Lg spirit which also was dropped into toilet, have a lot water residue, but cleaned with brush and acetone.
Till this day, these 3 phones work without issue.
