I have a lenovo y510p and i want to use an egpu device. There is no thunderbolt port. But there is one m.2 port for ssd (I dont know which type, it says ngff) and there is a board in the market, beast 8.4 that says it connects to m.2 port and allows for egpu. On further study i found that there are some models which do not support some m.2 types and/or such setup. Can somebody help me out with this. M not a techno person... so please answer in layman’s term. Will it work?

Will it work? Hard to say. It should work. The M.2 version has met some issue with compatibility on most platforms. I'd advise on getting the mPCIe version and dealing with a wireless USB dongle to cater to wifi.
