I'm about to start college soon and I'm looking for a decent laptop to help me out. I'm a computer engineer and do intend on playing video games(probably not too intensive, fortnite stuff like that) and I have no idea where to start on finding a decent laptop. My budget is around 600~

This is a good model, although you may want to think about swapping the stock drive with a solid state https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i5-8gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1050-1tb-8gb-hybrid-hard-drive-black/5709801.p?skuId=5709801

This is a bit more but has a solid state drive and a faster video card https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-7567-Laptop-i5-7300HQ/dp/B07793DRK9/ref=pd_cp_147_1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=fcaa6d12-8b2b-4ad7-b277-864b2da79f6e&pf_rd_r=MVN637ZQZVYKCBYW945F&pd_rd_wg=PMgvb&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&pd_rd_w=LkvoR&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pd_rd_r=e22aec3b-a623-11e8-ab56-99922abab8e3&pd_rd_i=B07793DRK9&psc=1&refRID=MVN637ZQZVYKCBYW945F

This has a newer CPU, solid state, nice screen, but a slower video card https://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np4850-clevo-n850el.html

Your budget is just at the limit of anything really "good", you will have some compromises unless you go up a few 100. No SSD but faster CPU, slower video card but an SSD, etc... At closer to $800 you can have a better overall system.
