Laptop Wifi Adapter Suddenly Stopped Working

I recently got a used laptop, an HP Dv6, running Windows 7 and uses the Intel (R) wifi link 1000 bgn. I had it for about a month and all was well until the last 2 days. I kept getting wifi disconnection notices. I kept troubleshooting and it said network adapter, try restarting router. I did and it would go back to working for an hour or two before going out again. It continued having issues and then finally stopped working.

I did the troubleshoot again, nothing. I tried unplugging the router/modem and restarting pc, nothing. I checked the device manager and the wifi adapter wasn't under my network connections. I disabled and re-enabled the lan and the wifi showed up in device manager but with the yellow error icon. I still couldn't get it to work. I tried again and the wifi didn't show up in the device manager again after that.

I ran cmd and ipconfig /release, renew and winsock. I restarted again but it still wasn't working and wifi button is still amber. I uninstalled drivers, restarted and hooked up ethernet. Nothing worked. I tried updating drivers and I get a message saying the best driver is already installed. There is no support for the driver and I don't see any driver files for it online.

I tried updating windows systems to see if that would help but one of the updates messed up Google Chrome somehow and wouldn't let me initiate the browser and lan completely stopped working too. I did a factory reset and lan has worked in and out but wifi was still completely gone.

I unplugged it, took out the battery and just let is sit for about 24 hrs. When I turned it back on the wifi button finally light white instead of amber but it wouldn't let me use it and went out again immediately. It hasn't come back on since.

What should I do?

Solution
1| Make sure you're on the latest BIOS update for your laptop.
2| Visit your laptop's support site and download the latest drivers meant for your wireless adapter.
3| If you're having trouble sourcing drivers, pass on your laptop's SKU.
