Using integrated graphics card to game while on battery?

So to my knowledge, when gaming laptops are used to game on the go with battery, some sort of software limitations kicks in and locks the game at 30 fps in order to preserve the system battery and to avoid damaging the graphics card. I understand this and do not wish to tinker with the actual discrete graphics to game AAA titles on the go.

However, is it possible for me to force the system to use the integrated graphics card to play light titles that can easily run 60 fps with integrated graphics while on battery to avoid this limitation without the harm of damaging my hardware or is this not advisable?

Sure, just go to the display options and set the games to run off the integrated video card, you can do that manually. I am not sure if you can set it to do that automatically when on battery.
